Kailash Fair In Agra- A Worship to Lord Shiva

Kailash Temple, located on the bank of River Yamuna near the historical place, Sikandra at Mathura Road, is one of the oldest temples in Agra. Every year in the month of August-September, a fair is celebrated here in honor of Lord Shiva. It is believed that Lord Shiva is always there in Lingam that is worshiped by devotees here.

The fair is celebrated on Monday (the third Monday of Shravan Month) where innumerable devotees gather from and surrounding areas of Agra. A heavy influx of devotees start gathering from the mid-night. In addition to the worship of Lord Shiva, the Holy River Yamuna is also the centre of attraction here. People after taking a bath in the river go to the temple to worship.

Thousands of temporary shops are established by people to add spice in the glory of the fair. Apart from this, you will find here to be in an air of happiness and joy. The sound of mantras keep people mesmerized for a long time. Tourists who come to explore Tajmahal also prefer to enjoy the Kailash fair.
